                                                                                BETTE ARLENE RACHLIN

Bette Rachlin, 98 (née Bortman) of Celebration, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024.  She is survived by her loving daughter

Meryl Rachlin and husband Bill Grindl of Celebration, Florida and by her loving son David Rachlin and his husband Jonathan

Saperia, of Santa Fe, New Mexico.  Born and raised in Brookline, MA.  Bette studied pathology and worked at Both Tufts and the Beth Israel Hospital.

Later she turned her love of the ocean into a part-time career as an assistant malacologist at the Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology and as a

docent at the Museum of Science.  She was an excellent cook, a self-taught photographer, and former president of the Brookline Garden Club.  She traded

shells with other collectors around the world.  Bette and husband Yale moved to Florida in 2001.  Yale passed away in March of 2005 after 57 years of marriage.
