                 LESLIE ORIN WEEKES

KNOWN AS “SONNIE” BY FAMILY AND FRIENDS

Leslie Orin Weekes, affectionately known as “Sonnie” was born on May 18, 1958 in Suddie, Essequibo Guyana, South America. Sonnie was the eldest of six children born to Waveney Yvonne and Leslie Udolrick Weekes.

The Weekes family settled in South Rumvieldt, Georgetown where Sonnie attained his primary and secondary school education at Lodge Government and Smith Church Schools. Upon graduation from high school, Sonnie attended Guyana Technical Institute where he graduated as a Certified Mechanic in 1973. He then worked at Bookers Garage from 1975 until he migrated to join his family in New Jersey in 1981.

In New Jersey, Sonny started a long career with Lynnes Nissan where he started as a specialist technician and worked his way up to a Master technician and then ASE Certified Master Auto Technician. When he left Lynnes in 1996, he was ranked the #2 National Technician.

Sonnie had a passion for computers and after teaching himself he attended Essex County College to study computer engineering. He then worked with Lockheed Martin and KPMG as a network engineer.

In 2011, Sonnie returned to Guyana to join his twin brother to work in the gold mines. It was then that he met his wife Natasha Mohammed. The family moved to Oviedo, Florida where they resided until his passing. Sonnie lived for his family and was the glue in every family occasion.

In His infinite wisdom, God almighty spoke gently to his son, Leslie “Sonnie” Orin Weekes on Saturday, February 25, 2023 and said, “Come unto me and I will give you rest from your labor.”

Sonnie is predeceased by his father Sonny Sr. He leaves to mourn his wife: Natasha; children: Sueann (Dominick, Mzee’Justice), Natasha, Asha, Tanashie and Leslie Jr; beloved mother: Waveney; brothers: Wesley (Roxanne), Daren (Sharlyn), Roger and Dexter; sisters: Monique, Janice, Desiree (Volville), Leslyn (Michael) and Coleen; nephews: Wesley Jr., Adio, Damani, Roger Jr., Isiah, Justin, Garth, Keron, Sheldon, Devon, Dewayne, Jemolt, Jamain, Dane, Vaughn and nieces: Jenelle, Uniqua, and Shaleedah.
