Obituary

Loretta Patrice Harvey affectionately known as “Retta”; a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend was born on
December 17th, 1979 in Staten Island, New York to the late James Russell Harvey and the beautiful Edna Mae Harvey.

Retta received early education in the New York City public school system until the family moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1988.  Retta and family later relocated to Orlando, Florida where she completed her secondary education at Edgewater High School.  Retta accepted Christ at an early age in New York at the family church and later worshipped at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Eatonville, Florida.

Retta was a woman of faith who loved spending time with her family and friends.  She loved horror movies and comedy.  She truly enjoyed family bonding during holidays,  sister time chats, brunch, happy hours, game nights, travel, etc.  Retta was a phenomenal hair stylist known to many as “Braids by Lo”.  She recently ventured out and excelled in social media marketing.  Her most recent achievements were becoming a certified sister lock consultant and real estate investor.  We intend to carry that torch in her honor.

Retta made her transition on January 14th, 2023.  Retta was preceded in death by her father James Russell Harvey, Brother Demetrius Harvey and God-sister: Theresa Landrum.  Retta leaves to cherish her memories; her mother Edna Harvey and dear friend Carlton McGee; children: Demetrius Johnson, Kavon Yarbrough and Neveah Harvey, siblings: Denesia Harvey, Donnell Harvey, Sabrina Ary, identical twin Larneice Freeman (Oshay), God-siblings Cecelia “Cookie” Duff (Kevin), Reginald Landrum, Denise Peters (Alex), a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  We are grateful  for the time that we shared with Retta and we are eternally grateful for God’s promise that we will all see her again someday.

I’m still in disbelief that you’re gone. You always had such a beautiful spirit. You were quiet yet but there was so much strength in you. I’m going to miss our chats in the chair and whenever I would see you that beautiful smile that could always light up a room. You were always about family and peace. I’ll cherish our memories always. May your soul forever rest in heaven. Gone but never ever forgotten. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏😘😥
