Helen Martin Marimon was born July 25, 1933 in the small town of Glennville, Georgia to Addie M. Dunson Braggs and Samuel Martin.  Helen was the youngest of her mother’s three children.

Helen left Georgia at the age of 17 to reside with her father in Oviedo, Florida.  There she met Henderson “Sonny” Marimon.  After a brief courtship they married and had five children together (Henderson, Jr. preceded parents in death).

Helen had various jobs throughout her early life.  To provide for her family, she worked as a housekeeper for several doctors.  She found employment at UCF and retired after 24 years in the Housekeeping Department.

Helen was a member of Fountain Head Missionary Baptist Church for many years where she served as choir president, and was a member of the prayer band and visited those that were sick.  After the death of her husband “Sonny” in 1986, she joined Mission Road Church of God in Christ in 1988.  She served in the choir ministry.  She faithfully attended until her health began to fail.

She cried unto the Lord with her voice, and he heard her out of the holy hill.  On Thursday, August 1, 2019, Helen Martin Marimon, one we loved and knew stepped across the threshold that we call death, but it was only a step into a brand new home.

Her memories will live on in the hearts of: Her children: Jean Holcomb-Gooden (Wayne), Ivan Marimon, Sr., Billie Marimon (Priscilla), Beverly Marimon and Linda Bain; Grandchildren: Cheri Wyre (Lonnie) Alexander Holcomb, Jr. (Tela), Amanda Lopes (Lucus), Ivan Marimon Jr., Corey Marimon, Jennifer Lassiter, Chrissy Johnson (Corey); LaTrenda Fosse (Anders); Twelve great-grands; One great-great grand; Sisters-in-Law: Zeola Steele and Nancy Marimon; Special Nieces: Virginia, Marlene, Etrendel, Marilyn, Katrina, Cynthia, June, Gloria, Glenda, Bonita; Special Nephew: Charles; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
