Obituary:

John Edward Brooks was born on July 26, 1951 in Rembert, South Carolina to Willie D. and Millie P. Brooks. He was the fourth of ten children. He was educated in the Seminole County School System and graduated from Oviedo High School.

John was a member of the Livingston Street Church of God and a faithful member of the Usher Board, and Head of Hospitality and a faithful member of the Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church (Watch Care member). He was employed by Walt Disney World as a chef at the Brown Derby and Polynesian properties since the early seventies until his retirement in 2008. He won numerous awards while working at Disney.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories with three daughters: Starcia Matthews, Nakia Brooks of Barnwell, S.C., Kallayanee Brooks (Vilaiporn Brooks) Orlando FL; nine grandchildren: Kendra, Deandrea, Michael, Jamario, Stevenson, Jaydan, Jeffery, Deandre, LaDarrion; two great-grands: Antonio and Jayla. Special Friend Candy Franklin. Four sisters: W. Pearl Brooks, Stella Brooks, Evelyn McCoy (Calvin) of Bronx NY and Zenobia Griffin (Rev. Michael) of Oviedo FL; one uncle and three aunts. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

“God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put his arms around you and whispered “come to Me”. With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away. And although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.”
