A Legacy
A heritage: Character qualifies memoirs…
A Time to Be Born
Ms. Audrey Harris was born in Winter Park, FL on October 12, 1936 and was the eldest of two girls born to the late James Gray and Gladys (Johnson) Gray.
A Time to Learn
Growing up in the Winter Park community, Audrey attended Hungerford High School and then furthered her education at Gibbs Vocational Institute in Saint Petersburg, Florida where she received her nursing certification.
A Time to Love
In 1952, Audrey entered into holy matrimony and began to grow her family.
A Time to Work
Ms. Harris worked for several years as a Nurse, some of her assignments included Sunland Sanitarium; Orange Memorial Hospital; and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Women & Children.
A Time to Enjoy
Audrey truly enjoyed serving, she was the Worthy Matron of the Rachel Court, 25B Heroines of Jericho and Brantley Jordan Order of Eastern Star #90. In addition, she worked diligently with the Shriners. But, her most treasured place of giving her time was at Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church as a Stewardess. She was a dedicated and diligent servant for the Lord. Suring the course of her membership at Ward, over 60 years, Ms. Harris served as a Steward, Trustee, Choir member, and Stewardess-President, eventually achieving the emeritus status when she could no longer physically serve in the capacity as a Stewardess.
A Time to Mourn
On June 10, 2018, Audrey transitioned to a new home not made by man’s hands. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Gladys Gray, and son Alan Carl McDonald.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Willie (Nancy Jean) McDonald III, Robert Louis (Eloise) McDonald, Joseph Emmanuel (Angela) McDonald, and Courtney Anntionette (Joseph) Jackson and daughter-in-law Vera (Alan Carl) McDonald.
